Cavallino is the journal of Ferrari history, covering Ferraris old and new for over 40 years. It's the most reliable, most trusted source of everything Ferrari. Ever since the first issue in 1978 Cavallino presents extensive stories and detailed information from knowledgeable experts and enthusiasts who share the passion for Ferrari. All Ferraris are unique, and each one has its own chassis serial number. This is how the Ferrari world keeps track of all the great cars. Cavallino is the only publication that prints the serial number for every Ferrari mentioned in our stories, articles, and race results.

12 | Viaggiando per il Mondo | The most incredible weekend of my Life An account of what can happen when Ferrari friends are made Carlyle Fraser Courtesy of Forza Motorsport Juan Quintano whisked through hectic Madrid traffic to what must be a secret hiding place. It was an underground garage where he warehouses cars, for Juan is the Ferrari importer for Spain and the Ferrari dealer for Madrid. We stepped through an unmarked door, only to see several 348s, 328s, a 288 GTO, a 275 GTB/4, and ten Ferrari F40s. Nine were brand new, but the tenth was for entertaining. |
17 | Viaggiando per il Mondo | Driving the Ferrari F40 Traveling with Ferrari around the World Stan Nowak Courtesy of Forza Motorsports As I had been one of the first American journalists to drive a 288 GTO, I was most anxious to try the F40! (This all took place before U.S. spec F40s arrived in America recently.) Unexpectedly, the key to solving this next to impossible problem came at the FCA Annual Meet at Watkins Glen when Katherine McClure introduced Carlyle Fraser and I to Juan Quintano, the Ferrari importer from Spain. |

21 | Feature | Competition Daytona, s/n 15667 A test drive of one of the great Ferraris Christian Rochet Daniel Fayol Let us go back seventeen years and relive the glory days of one of the last great race winning Ferraris, the Competition Daytona. Having had the please to test drive this thoroughbred, I experienced the same thrill as Claude Ballot-Lena and Jean-Claude Andruet, the winning team behind the sensational class victories at Le Mans in 1972, as well as in the Tour de France of that year. |
26 | Feature | Ferrari 312 F1, s/n 0009 One of the nicest Ferrari V-12 engines ever, strapped to one of the neatest Ferrari chassis Guy Mangiamele, Peter Coltrin The motoring world applauded Ferrari's apparent quick jump on the new Grand Prix regulations of 1966. Three liter un-supercharged engines were specified and Ferrari has a working model, chassis, engine, et al, by late 1965. It was a beautiful machine admired by one and all, but what many failed to notice was that the glorious V-12 engine was not new, but a clever derivative of the 275 P 3.3 litre engine found in many of the racing prototype cars of the preceding years. |
34 | Feature | Ferrari 212 Saga - my Life with s/n 0106E The Joys and sorrows of owning an old Ferrari David Clarke David Clarke The story of my very first Ferrari love, "the old banger" as I affectionately call it, the Vignale bodied 212 Export, s/n 0106 E. Never has I had a car which caused me so much aggravation and frustration, one which, like a naughty child, always seems to go out of its way to annoy and let me down, and yet I always, but always, ended up loving it, for this humble beginning sparked the start of a new era in life. |
40 | Notizie | Algar Enterprises - A Ferrari Dealer that helped to make history Courtesy of Algar Enterprises Algar Enterprise in Rosemont, Pennsylvania has been a Ferrari dealer for a very long time, as most of you know, but many many not know that in the not so distant past, the people at Algar, in the form of a separate company known as Chinetti-Garthwaite Imports, were the official Ferrari importers for the eastern United States. Looking back now, one can legitimately pose the questions, would the original importer survived without Algar's intervention in 1972? |

41 | Notizie | Ferrari Art Show at Hollywood Sport Cars benefits Muscular Dystrophy Association Courtesy of JMPR More than thirty noted automotive artists from around the world participated in "Three Decades of Ferrari," a charity art show which ran from June 16 through June 24. The exhibit featured nearly 100 pieces of Ferrari inspired paintings, models, and sculptures, making it the largest collection of Ferrari Art ever to be assembled in the United States. |
41 | Notizie | Ferrari meet in Reading Reading Concours d'Elegance Pietro Castiglioni Courtesy of Reading Ferrari The Sixth Annual Reading Ferrari Concours d'Elegance was held on Sunday, June 24, at the Reading Country Club in Reading, Pennsylvania. What started several years ago as a gathering of Ferraristi on a Sunday afternoon, has grown into a premier Ferrari event. The concours had a fine selection of Ferraris from the vintage 250 California Spyder to a later production 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder, plus a large number of emerging classics of the 1960s and 1970s. |
41 | Notizie | National Ferrari Meet at Watkins Glen Ed Gilbertson Courtesy of Forza Motorsports It was early summer and once again time for the National Ferrari Meet. This major event is hosted each year by a different Region of the Ferrari Club of America, and this year the meet was held in the Northeast Region at Watkins Glen Raceway in New York. In addition to two days of track events, there is a rally over the open roads and the National Ferrari Concours. |

48 | Corse | Old Daytonas keep on racing Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione, s/n 14065 Courtesy of JMPR Old race cars never die, not old old Daytonas anyway. Remember this old giant? It is s/n 14065 and was raced by the Kirk F. White organization in 1971, and while it didn't accomplish much in actual racing, it was noteworthy because Traco Engineering got 600 bhp out of the V-12 motor. Southern stock car builders Holman and Moody also went through this car and it was truly race worthy, American style. |
48 | Corse | F40 LM pull off two second places Ferrari France Steve Kastner The F40 LMs of Ferrari France were back to race in Canada on June 22-24, 1990 in the "Nissan Grand Prix" at Mosport Park. Drives Jacques Lafitte and Hurley Haywood took turns in one of the cars (the other becoming a spare) to land a laudable second place at the end. The cars are becoming better and better. Wheels are now painted white and behind the black painted headlight covers, actual lights are no longer there. |
48 | Corse | Pirelli Maranello Challenge continues in England We like to cover this exciting racing series in Cavallino, mainly because we applaud all those drivers who actually take their street Ferraris out and actually race them. If Great Britain can support such a Ferrari series, surely France, Italy, Germany, and the U.S. could do the same in their own individual countries. Any volunteers to explore the issue? |
49 | Corse | Ferrari V-8 engines continue to power entries in the Camel Light Series Robert Pease Robert Pease Since our last visit, there has been quite a bit of activity on both sides of the Atlantic. Over in Italy, Carma Racing's engine shop has been busy: chief engineer Carlo Facetti has built a new three liter Ferrari two valve engine for the 1990 racing season. The new engine produces over 370 horsepower and develops more torque than last year's version. |
